It's also fair to note that Teddy Sane is one of my older characters, from way back in high school. Long road from there to here, but it's good to get him back out again and give him a dust-off and a polish. | It's also fair to note that Teddy Sane is one of my older characters, from way back in high school. Worth noting here: Emberglow / Teddy Sane is an amalgamation of several heavy metal bands of the 80's.
There's a bit of Twisted Sister in him, also Quiet Riot, Alice Cooper, WASP's Blackie Lawless, and Ozzy. The story about him being a madman in a basement, and the record company thinking he was a band is inspired by the history of the band BOSTON, who were basically one guy (Tom Scholz) in a basement, and the record company didn't know it. The "Recording and production" section of the wikipedia article on their first album is worth a read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_(album)
The business about him being sued if he used the Teddy Sane name is inspired by the career of Prince who had much the same thing happen to him (which is why he changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol for awhile)
In my mind, Vince Starlight is an amalgamation of David Bowie and Dean Martin. A classy guy with style from a bygone era who knew how to groove.
It's also fair to note that Teddy Sane is one of my older characters, from way back in high school. Long road from there to here, but it's good to get him back out again and give him a dust-off and a polish.
