The Record Pit

The Record Pit is a three-story retail shop that sits just off the boardwalk, in the town of Nude Beach.

History

The shop was originally built as a boathouse, which is fairly obvious from its design and construction. It was abandoned for some time before the Foozles bought boink, but once the Foozles moved in and Nude Beach started becoming a popular location, it was purchased by an Elliofant lady known only as Big Mama, who turned it into the record shop that it is today.

While it has been cleaned up, repaired and modernized to meet local building and safety standards, every attempt has been made to retain it's funky, broken down and weather-beaten appearance.

Structure

The building consists of three floors:

The Bargain Basement

The lowest floor, which once used to be where the boats were housed, contains the shop's bargain racks, where one can both buy and sell used records, tapes, sensopaks, compact discs and 8-track tapes. It also houses a counter where small local bands can sell their home and garage-produced music. The former boathouse doors have been sealed shut, but the centermost one also now offers access to the shop from the beach, via a modern retail shop door, and a wooden platform deck with seats, railings, and a tent-like canopy.

The Main Floor

The second floor of the building is the main salesfloor for the shop. The main entrance is here, which opens out onto the boardwalk. This is also where Big Mama oversees the shop from a large rattan peacock chair. On this floor are new albums, singles and other recent releases, as well as an assortment of the usual posters, patches, stickers and clothing and jewelry items. It's also where celebrity artists will appear from time to time for autograph sessions with their latest release. There is also a warehouse space behind the sales counter where excess stock is stored.

Upstairs

While most of the third floor is empty atrium space above the main sales floor, the third of it directly above the warehouse area is taken up with Big Mama's apartment, which can be reached from a set of stairs behind the sales counter. From time to time, a lucky few will find themselves invited upstairs to Big Mama's bedroom, where they will be tended to with motherly care.

The Staff

Name: Big Mama Main Duties: Owner & Proprietor Secondary Duties: Run The Cash Register Favorite Music Genre: Reggae, Dub, Details: There are rumors that Big Mama was once a singer with a hit song, back in her teens. But what name she performed under or what her hit song may have been have never been determined. There are also rumors that she used to be a space pirate, the queen of some unknown exotic realm, a voodoo priestess, or even the living embodiment of a fertility goddess. If any of these are true, she isn't telling. She speaks with a thick Jamaican accent, and always seems to have sandalwood incense burning. She also likes her lovers to call her Mama, and it has been determined on many occasions she has a breastfeeding kink. She can also do kinky things with her trunk that would make a pervert blush.
Name: Pinkie Main Duties: Main floor Sales Clerk Secondary Duties: Stock Boy Favorite Music Genre: Bubblegum Pop Details: This pink fluffy little femboy sheep is a local, who works at the shop partially for the money, partly because it's a fun place to hang out, and partially because it provides ample opportunity to flirt with the customers. He enjoys his role as the "little sister" of the shop staff, coming off as shy and innocent, but possessing a sexual lust worthy of a satyr.
Name: Jerri Main Duties: Downstairs Sales Clerk Secondary Duties: Manage the local music counter Favorite Music Genre: Punk, Rock, Metal, LOUD, Details: Jerri moved here from Cumtown as a teen, and provides a raw, urban take on life. She tends to be brash, direct, and uncensored. Her favorite pick-up line is "Hey, wanna fuck?" And she has no problem sharing her opinion on whatever the current topic of discussion is, through a casual sneer and a snorting laugh. Not actually cruel, but sharp as a dagger, with a razor wit.
Name: Mongo Main Duties: Warehouse Stock Manager Secondary Duties: Bouncer Favorite Music Genre: Boy Bands Details: Mongo is big, dumb and pretty. Despite his size and strength he is a total sweetie who comes off as shy, and quietly demure. He is also fabulously gay. His main duties in the shop consist of carrying heavy things that need to be moved, and helping to maintain the peace and tranquility of the store by escorting unruly customers out. He really is a sensitive soul, though. It has been noted that Jerri will deliberately tone herself down in his presence in order to not hurt his feelings.
